Hey there! My name is Michelle. Welcome to potatodiary.com.

I'm a wife, mother, artist, and lover of food (especially mashed potatoes). I live in Northern Idaho and I love it here! Funny thing is, I would have NEVER in a million years, pictured myself living in Idaho. “Where?” you ask. "IDAHO??" Oh, you know, the state that's right in between Washington and Montana. Oooooohhh, IDAHO... and guess what? There really ARE people living here!

I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. When I was 20 years old, I got the bright idea to move to the big city of Chicago. I met my roommates when I moved in, got a job as a waitress, and stayed up way too late...all the time. One day, when I was minding my own business, I met a cute guy with shaggy hair and tight jeans. He was hilarious and sweet... a singer in a rock band. I would go watch his shows and he would dedicate songs to me while sweating and swaggering across the stage. I loved it. One day, he told me he was from Idaho. “Where?” I asked. You know, IDAHO! The state that is right in between Wash... well, you get the idea.

We fell in love and got married. After a while we got tired of staying up way too late. My rockstar suggested we move to Idaho. I remembered where it was... and the journey began. From BIG city to SMALL town. From BIG skyscrapers to BIG mountains.

Since moving to Idaho, I have had two little taters. LYLA, who was only with us a short time, and EDEN, who is hilarious and makes me laugh every day. We bought our first little house and enjoy frequent walks around the neighborhood with our dog, Buckley.

In Confessions, you'll find ramblings of life in Idaho, recipes, thoughts, jokes (from my barber-shop quartet dad), and the occasional reminiscent story of life in Chicago. I frequently post pictures of my shaggy hair, tight jean-wearing rockstar, my hilarious daughter, the mountains, my dog and my cat, my artwork, and the festivities that bring this little town to life.

You'll find the occasional audio clip of my rockstar's "basement recordings", as we like to call them, Eden mumbling and telling stories, and our homemade musicals. I never said I was a good singer. THERE. You've been warned.

Please leave a comment and let me know you stopped by!

My dad always says, "Michelle, it's not about the destination, it's about the journey." And, what a journey it has been so far. Thanks for letting me share my adventures of Idaho with you.
