Eden's Garden

This is my little tater-tot, Eden, born in April 2008. And, yes. She has a bucket on her head. It's one of the many things that she finds humorous these days. Silly girl. She sings, she chatters, she loves playing peek-a-boo, she talks to her books, and she giggles at the most random of moments.

It has been an amazing adventure with her so far, and also somewhat difficult. You wouldn't know by looking at her or maybe even meeting her in person, but she is faced with several challenges. She has been diagnosed with low muscle strength and Duane Syndrome. The low muscle strength has effected her motor skills and she is a bit behind. The Duane Syndrome affects the eye muscles and causes an inability to move her eyes laterally (to the corner of the eye).  It has mainly affected her right eye.

Her young life has already seen a CT scan and an MRI, and we have met with a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric opthamologist, and an occupational therapist, to name a few.  She currently has weekly sessions with a physical therapist and water therapist. We are working very hard to get her crawling, standing and walking! She is on her way.

This blog is mainly for me to track her progress. Sometimes things can be a little discouraging and I have found it helpful to keep pictures and make notes of where she WAS and how far she has grown.

Welcome to Eden's Garden!

Is there anything more I need to say? Eden + Hat = adorable. So, the hat is pretty much meant for a 2-3 year old sized head, but whatever. It makes me smile. You?

Once upon a time...

...my baby weighed only 6 pounds and 4 ounces.

...my tiny tot could fit on her daddy's forearm.

...my little tootsie slept, even when you held her.

Are you teary yet?

Here, let me help.

Once upon a time...seconds after this picture was taken, Miss Eden peed and pooped all over her daddy's arm.

Priceless.

Ever since she was a little baby, when she get's a bottle, she does this:

The feet go up. I'm not sure why. I guess it just became a habit. But, I have come to the conclusion that she must have the strongest abs known to man. I mean, YOU try and stick your feet straight in the air for ten minutes WHILE drinking down a delicious bottle of milk. I'd bet you'd get tired.

She makes it look so easy. It's pretty strange, though. Bottle goes in, feet go up.

Oh, the bathtime. Oh, her adorable little face. She actually enjoys taking a bath. I don't know if this picture makes you think otherwise. And, don't tell anyone, but I still give her a bath in the kitchen sink. Is that so wrong? One of these times we'll move to the tub. But, I'll never stop snuggling her up in a big towel and dancing around the living room after her bath. I know, I know, I'm such a ham.
