This is my little tater-tot, Eden, born in April 2008. And, yes. She has a bucket on her head. It's one of the many things that she finds humorous these days. Silly girl. She sings, she chatters, she loves playing peek-a-boo, she talks to her books, and she giggles at the most random of moments.
It has been an amazing adventure with her so far, and also somewhat difficult. You wouldn't know by looking at her or maybe even meeting her in person, but she is faced with several challenges. She has been diagnosed with low muscle strength and Duane Syndrome. The low muscle strength has effected her motor skills and she is a bit behind. The Duane Syndrome affects the eye muscles and causes an inability to move her eyes laterally (to the corner of the eye). It has mainly affected her right eye.
Her young life has already seen a CT scan and an MRI, and we have met with a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric opthamologist, and an occupational therapist, to name a few. She currently has weekly sessions with a physical therapist and water therapist. We are working very hard to get her crawling, standing and walking! She is on her way. This blog is mainly for me to track her progress. Sometimes things can be a little discouraging and I have found it helpful to keep pictures and make notes of where she WAS and how far she has grown. Welcome to Eden's Garden!

Cheerios. Grab with your hands. Put in your mouth. Eat! This task is one of the many things we've been helping Eden learn how to do. I call it: Cheerio stare-down. I think Eden's winning. Mind if I narrate? Thanks.
Hello, Cheerio...It's just you and me.
I see you brought your little friends, but I'm not scared.
We're gonna do this nice and slowly...
Easy.......easy.....I'm goin' in.
Now if I could just figure out how to put this thing in my mouth. TO BE CONTINUED....... |
